Athens County Humane Society: The Athens County Humane Society (ACHS) is a local nonprofit organization that strives to better the lives of animals throughout the Athens area. The ACHS works tirelessly to find caring homes for animals and to reduce the rate of abandonment and euthanasia of healthy animals. The organization is run entirely by donations and memberships and is 100 percent staffed by volunteers. The ACHS offers spay and neuter programs, adoption services, foster care, a lost and found list and other services meant to save animals in need in Athens County.

AVW Productions: AVW Productions is a completely student-run media production house in Athens. They currently produce a number of shows ranging from sports to news to minority issues. Students take on responsibilities such as producing, acting talent, filming and editing and more.

Backdrop Magazine: Backdrop is the only student-run print magazine on the Ohio University campus, and it focuses on stories affecting the Athens community. Bird Ice Arena: Ohio University’s Bird Ice Arena is an indoor ice facility that includes recreational skating, Learn to Play Hockey, Athens Youth Hockey Association, academic classes, intramural broomball, recreational hockey, learn to skate programs, figure skating, birthday parties, and private rentals. The facility is open from early October to March and available to university students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community.

ButtOut Ohio: Buttout Ohio is an anti-smoking campaign through Cleveland’s Fleishman-Hillard firm. The campaign attempts to reduce smoking specifically in the LGBTQ community. Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health, Buttout Ohio provides prevention tips and strategies to smokers.

Campus Kicks: Campus Kicks was started in 2010 by OHIO Alumni to provide brand name shoes and fashion merchandise to college students at a significant discount. Inigral: Inigral gives colleges a way to create a private Facebook community for their college campus. OHIO Performing Arts Series: For 51 years, the Ohio University Performing Arts Series has offered the Ohio University community countless national touring events at a price that can’t be matched. The Performing Arts Series is partially funded through the general student fee, grants and private investors, which allows the University to charge lower ticket prices.
